New FRC Executive Director: Luann Travis

Luann TravisThe Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County is pleased to announce that Luann Travis has taken the reins as the new Executive Director. As a former Volunteer Coordinator for the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center, Luann brings her experiences working with a large staff to our small but dedicated and professional team. Luann is a lifelong Sheboygan County resident,  born in Sheboygan. For the past 14 years, she and her husband have made Plymouth their family home. Through her extensive experience as a mother of three children, an educator and a volunteer, Luann knows and loves this community. However, she is looking forward to expanding her view of Sheboygan County through her new position  as Executive Director as she works with the numerous FRC projects. One program in particular, is the Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visitation program. Having completed (PAT) training last fall, she is serving a few families in home visitations, in addition to directing the day to day operations of the center. The FRC staff is sure that when you meet Luann, you will experience her personal and professional passion for building strong families and strong communities. Please introduce yourself to Luann at a meeting, class or event. Our staff is happy to have her leadership, her sense of purpose, and her dedication to seeing the FRC continue to flourish. Join us in saying, “Welcome Luann!”

Start the Conversation on “Responsible Drinking”

How to Drink Responsibly

The alcohol industry always reminds consumers to “Drink Responsibly” with no guidelines. Let’s start the conversation on “Responsible Drinking” and begin to define what is responsible drinking. For adults who choose to consume alcohol, moderation—as defined by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005—means drinking up to one drink per day for women or two drinks per day for men.  The recommended limits for number of drinks: On any day, never more than 3 for women or 4 for men.  In a typical week, no more than 7 for women or 14 for men.  For more information contact Phil Duket, Drug Free Communities Support Project, pduket@excel.net.
