Drug Free Communities Support Program (DFC)
The Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County has been active in substance abuse prevention throughout Sheboygan County since 1999. Currently funded by the Drug Free Communities Support Program Grant, our prevention efforts for youth and adults center around the 6 Prevention Strategies outlined by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP).
- Community Mobilization
- Environmental Strategies
- Information Dissemination
- Education
- Alternative Activities
- Assessment and Referral
By utilizing multiple strategies, such as education (LifeSkills Training) and information dissemination (Parents Who Host, Lose the Most), in multiple settings, the positive impact of substance abuse prevention for our youth and adults should be measurable. We cannot do this by targeting youth alone! Both youth and adults play key roles in promoting these efforts.
At the Family Resource Center, we have strategies for various groups to help our community create an environment supportive of an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle for our community: Contact Phil Duket or Erik Wagner for specific ideas!
Below is a list of the members of the United Community for Youth Project. These individuals are working towards community collaboration on all efforts with regards to youth prevention in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, drug, and substance abuse.
